E-Invoicing & DATEV

German companies have had to receive e-invoices since 2025. From January 2027, issuing them becomes mandatory as well (prior-year revenue above €800k), from 2028 for everyone. Especially in larger companies this means invoice creation, master data, posting logic and the path to the tax advisor deserve one clean design instead of five patches.

I cover the whole path from document to finalized posting batch: bidirectional DATEV integration via Desktop API and REST, GoBD-compliant and multi-client, documented in two freely available whitepapers.

For the technical side I am building my own e-invoicing middleware that sits between ERP systems and DATEV and automates the document flow; a demo appointment is available on request. Consulting and implementation work without it too, with the systems you already run.

What this covers

  • Receive e-invoices →Validate structured invoices, archive them GoBD-compliant and transfer them into accounting; receiving mandatory since 2025.
  • Create & send e-invoices →Produce compliant XRechnung and ZUGFeRD invoices from the ERP, including down payments, installments and cancellations; issuing mandatory from 2027.
  • Master data clean-upClean debtors, creditors and the chart of accounts so automation can take hold.
  • Posting logic →Translate your posting rules into a configurable posting matrix: recipient country × invoice type × tax rate × cost type → account.
  • DATEV optimization →Document transfer, DUO connection, document images attached to the posting record; finalized posting batches, multi-client.
  • AI-assisted pre-assignmentPosting suggestions based on historical data, reviewed and approved by your accounting team.
  • Training & rolloutImplementation on site instead of slide decks: test runs against real data, parallel operation, an accompanied month-end close.

How it works

  1. Readiness check: systems, master data, tax-advisor setup
  2. Posting logic and account matrix with your accounting team
  3. Integration, test run against real data, parallel operation
  4. Go-live with an accompanied month-end close

The next step costs nothing.

30 to 60 minutes, no strings attached: where is the biggest friction, what is the most effective lever, and is a collaboration a fit?
